The junction of Station Road and Greenock Road is one of the busiest junctions in the village. Station Road leads to the Station (no surprises there then!), the Royal Ordnance Factory, the bank, the post office and the Community Centre. No shocks that its a well used road. The house featured with the wood stacked was the home of a George Weir local joiner.
As you can clearly see the changes here (pictures dated 1913 & 1998) are fairly superficial, the road has been surfaced and the wall around the house on the corner has been rebuilt. Now, although the road sign in the lower picture tells you that its a dead end, its not really. The road to the factory has a smaller road leading off it that leads around the village coming out at the Golf Inn side, this is where you'll find the "Woods" we have.
