This photo of Dargavel House was taken in 1906, the lower picture was taken in 1998.

Patrick Maxwell of Dargavel erected the oldest part of the mansion in 1584. John Hall Maxwell of Dargavel later extended it in 1849. The architectural character of the house has been preserved throughout these changes. The style is that of a French chateau, the style of the times.

You can see the change in 1849 was the central turret built into the middle of the house and the entrance.

The factory has been excellent at maintaining the house in its original state both inside and out.
