GOLF INN. Established in 1815 near the Glasgow to Greenock road, the Golf Inn has seen many changes, notably the railway, which was opened in 1841. Handpumps serving beer were replaced by an Albany water-driven beer "engine" which can still be seen today, although superseded by an electric "engine" serving the cask-conditioned ale. The original well is still used for various purposes, including making wishes! The inaugural meetings of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) in Scotland were held here in 1972, and the Inn has received several awards for the quality of the beer served. The bar, lounge and television room provide a friendly atmosphere.

The proprietor in 1907, when The Picture was taken, was Harry Munro, today it's Eric Bryce. It has been in Eric's family for many years now.

The prominent change here is the road. In 1907 the road ran past the Golf Inn, now the road is much further away. The reason for this is not known to me (yet). Another project for the future enters the to do list!
